Trumpâs appearance at a Black church drew a mix of curious local
residents and die-hard supporters, but little in the way of protest.
As the event began, the church was not at capacity. It held a diverse
audience of Black and white people.
Among Black registered voters, Biden led Trump 57% to 12% in a
Reuters/Ipsos poll in May...

During the discussion, 180 Church Pastor Lorenzo Sewell told Trump that
he was âhumbledâ by the former presidentâs visit.
âPresident Obama never came to the âhood, so-to-speak, right? President
Joe Biden, he went to the big NAACP dinner, but he never came to the
âhood. So thank you,â Sewell said, eliciting applause from the audience.

What do the polls say?
In 2016, Trump received 8 percent of the Black vote according to the
exit polls, the highest level of support by Black voters for any
Republican since George Bush in 2000. By the 2020 US presidential
election, support for Trump among Black voters had surged to 12 percent.
And, while current opinion polls vary, a recent survey from GenForward
shows that if the elections were held today, 17 percent of Black voters
would vote for Donald Trump while 20 percent said they would vote for
someone other than Trump or Biden.
Now, however, only 63 percent of Black voters â an all-time low since
GenForward started collecting data in 1999 â say they will support Biden
this year, according to the survey.
These numbers could spell trouble for Democrats in Novemberâs
presidential election, especially in swing states.
Todayâs Black voters operate a bit more independently from previous
generations, especially young Black voters. In the 2022 midterm
elections, Biden largely retained the Black vote, however, there was a
considerable shift among Black voters towards the Republican Party â
from 8 percent at the mid-terms four years previously to 14 percent in 2022.

Recent polling shows the former president could get a "historic" boost
from Black voters in November if they continue to sour on President
Biden, CNN data analyst Harry Enten reported.
"My goodness gracious," he said as he reacted to the polling average,
which showed Trump's support among Black voters more than doubled to 22%
compared to 2020.
Trump has support from 25% of Black voters from 18 to 49 â three times
more than older voters.
"This is historic. This is what a lot of folks have been talking about,
that Joe Biden has a specific problem among younger Black voters, and
that is exactly what showing up right here," Enten said. "Itâs these
younger Black voters who very much are turning on him and being much
more supportive of Donald Trump than they were four years ago."
Ya dumb lying hosehead!
