That is the YEARLY pattern, doofus.
There is more ocean in the southern hemisphere so overall/aggregate
ocean temperatures are hottest at the end of summer in the southern
hemisphere.
Look at the dark dotted lines for both the 1982-2010 period and the
1991-2020 period. You can see the surface temperature goes up and peaks
in March, then declines to a lowest point in November. Then the whole
thing repeats.
But the early period's overall level is lower than the later one's.
The overall trend over the passage of years, is clearly up.
