Where I live I would need to demonstrate imminent bodily harm. So
basically I neutralized the intruder based upon threats and a "It's you
or me" type situation.
Someone trying to pry open a window without a threat either spoken or
demonstrated, ie:pointing a weapon at the homeowner, does not qualify.
Nor should it.
If I were in such a situation, one on one, I would point my weapon, yell loudly
that the police are on their way and if you do not leave immediately, I will shoot you.
In all likelihood that would take care of the vast majority of encounters like this.
