A nonprofit with ties to Democrat Stacey Abrams has become the center
of a controversy after receiving a staggering $2 billion in taxpayer
funds. According to the Washington Free Beacon, the Department of
Government Efficiency (DOGE) discovered that the funds were initially
allocated by the Biden administration=E2=80=99s Environmental Protection Ag=
ency
(EPA), and were earmarked for Power Forward Communities, a group with
minimal prior revenue.
In April 2024, the EPA awarded Power Forward Communities the grant as part =
of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund program. The timing and size of the gr=
ant have raised eyebrows, given that Power Forward Communities was establis=
hed in late 2023 and reported only $100 in revenue during its first three m=
onths.
According to the Free Beacon, =E2=80=9CPower Forward Communities=E2=80=99 g=
rant was one of just eight Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund grants that the EP=
A doled out in April 2024 and that, altogether, totaled $20 billion. EPA ad=
ministrator Lee Zeldin announced on Feb. 13 that his staff and Department o=
f Government Efficiency officials discovered that the Biden administration =
parked that same $20 billion at an outside financial institution before lea=
ving office, limiting the federal government=E2=80=99s oversight of the pro=
gram.=E2=80=9D
With Power Forward Communities being linked to Stacey Abrams, ethical quest=
ions have arisen over the beneficiaries of taxpayer dollars under the Biden=
administration. Critics are questioning the selection process for these ma=
ssive grants and whether political favoritism played a role. Republicans ha=
ve long voiced concerns that Biden administration initiatives would be used=
to bolster organizations specifically created to receive federal funding u=
nder programs like the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund.
=E2=80=9CWhen we learned about the Biden Administration=E2=80=99s scheme to=
quickly park $20 billion outside the agency, we suspected that some organi=
zations were created out of thin air just to take advantage of this,=E2=80=

Congress and to the American people to be a good steward of tax dollars an=

=E2=80=9CAs we continue to learn more about where some of this money went, =
it is even more apparent how far-reaching and widely accepted this waste an=
d abuse has been,=E2=80=9D he continued. =E2=80=9CIt=E2=80=99s extremely co=
ncerning that an organization that reported just $100 in revenue in 2023 wa=
s chosen to receive $2 billion. That=E2=80=99s 20 million times the organiz=
ation=E2=80=99s reported revenue.=E2=80=9D
Zeldin reminded Americans that President Trump was elected with a
=E2=80=9Cmandate from the American people to stop the fraud and abuse by
leaders who irresponsibly shoveled boat loads of cash to far-left,
activist groups in the name of environmental justice and climate
equity, instead of serving the American people,=E2=80=9D adding that =E2=80=
