When I first began working for a corporation fresh out of college I met some
rather famous people due to the position I was in. It was a "wine and dine" type
thing in order to garner business. So tickets to the Yankees/Mets/US Open/ Broadway
shows and so forth.
I actually hated it TBH but it paid the bills.
So one time when I was a fresh noob in the job over dinner I asked one of the men
at the table who made a comment that I looked like a teenager, which at the time I did,
what advice he could offer me so I could advance in the company.
Without hesitating he replied "learn to play golf".
I was floored by that response.
But he was spot on and although I never did learn to play golf, I sucked at it,
I witnessed many deals being completed on the golf course.
Fortunately I left the rat race and opened my own business and never looked back.
