It depends upon how the question is posed.
For example most people, including myself have no issue with
adults wanting to change their gender. That's on them.
However, the people's reaction to being asked is it NORMAL to want to
change one's gender is a different can of worms.
And if you do some research on the topic the first hits by far are medical
institutions who, wait for it, make tons of money from gender reassignment
surgery.
Are there people who may truly suffer from gender dysphoria and without a mental
illness component?
Probably, but they are very rare like those who have both sex organs.
The vast majority though are confused for various reasons which is why the
number trans playing dress up far outnumbers the number who go full treatment.
