DOJ Investigating Outhouse Parade Float That POKED FUN At Obama
Fourth of July parade in Norfolk, Nebraska in 2014.
A float in the parade featured an outhouse with a sign on it that read "Obama Presidential Library." A dummy, sometimes described
as zombie-like and clad in overalls, was positioned next to the outhouse, appearing to be standing by a walker.
Organizers' Response: Parade organizers defended the float as political satire and claimed it was one of the most popular
entries, even receiving an "honorable mention" from judges. They argued that it was no more offensive than a political cartoon.
Creator's Explanation: The man who entered the float, Dale Remmich, stated that his intent was not racist. He claimed the dummy
was a representation of himself, and the float was meant as a critique of President Obama's handling of veterans' issues,
suggesting it was a poorly designed statement rather than a hateful one. He stressed his own non-racist background.
Despite the creator's explanation, the incident garnered national attention and became another example of contentious public
displays involving political figures, particularly during the Obama presidency.
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) sent a member of its Community Relations Service team to investigate the Nebraska parade
float.
This confirms that the Eric Holder-led DOJ was involved in addressing the situation surrounding the parade float.

DOJ Investigates Nebraska Parade Float Critical of Obama
The U.S. Department of Justice has sent a member of its Community Relations Service team to investigate a Nebraska parade float
that criticized President Obama.
A Fourth of July parade float featured at the annual Independence Day parade in Norfolk sparked criticism when it depicted a
zombie-like figure resembling Mr. Obama standing outside an outhouse, which was labeled the "Obama Presidential Library."

In an interview with ABC's Pierre Thomas this past Sunday, Attorney General Eric Holder was asked about repeated requests from
the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the IRS scandal. Holder's
response was that a special prosecutor isn't necessary, adding that FBI agents were 'doing a good, professional job"
investigating the matter.

Besides, Holder and his department have more important fish to fry than worrying about some "phony scandal." Norfolk (Neb.) CBS
affiliate KMTV reports that officials with the Department of Justice are in Norfolk to investigate a potential hate crime. At the
center of the investigation is a controversial parade float.
Last Saturday, a man put an outhouse on his parade float with a sign that read, "Obama Presidential Library." A zombie dressed as
a farmer was leaning against the building. Parade organizers told KMTV they talked to the creator, who's a farmer, and he said
the zombie was supposed to be him, not the president.
Today, the Iowa-Nebraska NAACP State Area Conference of Branches sent a news release to KMTV Action 3 News, saying they were
meeting with Mayor [Sue] Fuchtman Thursday afternoon. "The State Area NAACP has received numerous concerns and inquiries about
this issue," the group said, "and appreciate Mayor Fuchtman and the parade officials' willingness to have open dialog [sic] and
address these concerns."
Mike Dorstewitz reported on the kerfuffle, including not only a picture of the offending float but a screen capture of a
political cartoon from the Bush era by liberal cartoonist Mike Luckovich in which THE "BUSH PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARY" WAS DEPICTED AS
AN OUTHOUSE. But that was then and this is now. Eric Holder wasn't attorney general back then. Had he been, is there any doubt he
would have had Luckovich arrested for his ugly disparagement of the President of the United States?

"Trump Derangement Syndrome" Is a Real Mental Condition
All you need to know about "Trump Derangement Syndrome," or TDS.
"Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) is a mental condition in which a person has been driven effectively insane due to their dislike
of Donald Trump, to the point at which they will abandon all logic and reason."
Justin Raimondo, the editorial director of Antiwar.com, wrote a piece in the Los Angeles Times in 2016 that broke TDS down into
three distinct phases or stages:
"In the first stage of the disease, victims lose all sense of proportion. The president-elect's every tweet provokes a firestorm,
as if 140 characters were all it took to change the world."
"The mid-level stages of TDS have a profound effect on the victim's vocabulary: Sufferers speak a distinctive language consisting
solely of hyperbole."
"As TDS progresses, the afflicted lose the ability to distinguish fantasy from reality."
The Point here is simple: TDS is, in the eyes of its adherents, the knee-jerk opposition from liberals to anything and everything
Trump does. If Trump announced he was donating every dollar he's ever made, TDS sufferers would suggest he was up to something
nefarious, according to the logic of TDS. There's nothing - not. one. thing. - that Trump could do or say that would be received
positively by TDSers.
The history of Trump Derangement Syndrome actually goes back to the early 2000s - a time when the idea of Trump as president was
a punch line for late-night comics and nothing more.
Wikipedia traces its roots to "Bush Derangement Syndrome" - a term first coined by the late conservative columnist Charles
Krauthammer back in 2003. The condition, as Krauthammer defined it, was "the acute onset of paranoia in otherwise normal people
in reaction to the policies, the presidency - nay - the very existence of George W. Bush."
