The Judaism, in the form close to what is known as the Judaism
today, was a product of significant Persian cultural influence.
The Achaemenid Empire made an unprecedented effort to introduce
a common ("early-monoteist" Zoroastrianism-based) god/faith for
all the motley cultural-enthic groups included within it. The
then Jewish elite, taken into "Babylonian captivity", touched
the imperial culture, and were also affected with the imperial
pursuit of religious universalism. Cyrus the Great then allowed
the Jews to return to "Zion" on the condition that they will
worship this kind of religion at the outskirt of the empire.
They did so, but later, when the Achaemenid control / dominance
over "province" was loosening, they had better (re)adopted it
to the - solely pagan - pre-Babylonian Jewish-specific cultism.
So the monoteist-like Judaism had been produced. Here seems to
be laid the root of the issues between Israel and (post)Persia.
