One of the professional skills that I claim is an ability to make
systems comprised of different technologies interoperate. To do
this you need to understand a technology's history and the social
impact of it's utilization. And there's another thing to consider
as well: the older the tech the more likely we didn't get it right
to start with. So then. The Nation States of this Weirld are
NEOLITHIC
in origin. That is the New Stone Age, before we had copper.
Lately (last few thousand years) we've come up with Churches,
Religions and other additions to complicate things, but the
basic, underlying tech of our civilization, is Stone Age,
or mebbe even older: the Jawbone of an ass is from before
we had flint).
More recently we've had mass movements like Marxism/Communism
and the American Religion, Reprehensible Democracy (IP stolen
from the Iroquois Confederacy). I expect we'll have more in
the years to come, and moreover none will be perfect: human
systems can be complete or consistent, but not both.
So what we needed to do is establish (?UN) an experimental
framework to allow different systems of organization to
be tested for their human utility without having to commit
all of us forever to whatever. So we need a framework
within which these experiments don't attempt "completeness"
over us all.
