Because of EPA regulation.  Trump has slashed EPA and Republicans have
fought it for decades.

I don't agree with CAFE.  That's something the market can decide based
on fuel cost.  People who get caught out commuting in an 11MPG pickup
get no sympathy from me.

Um, a primary goal of green is to eliminate fossil fuels with a
special emphasis on getting shed of coal asap.  That will end children
mining coal.

However, setting up trade and investment in such countries can often
bring enough wealth and industrial base to make such things
unnecessary.
