So?
And?
Trump's tariffs were to swing the TRADE DEFICIT, not to hurt their economy... stupid.
=====
Here are the main reasons countries get tariffed:
1. To Protect Domestic Industries
This is the most common reason and is a form of protectionism. By placing a tariff on a foreign-made product, its price becomes
higher for domestic consumers. This makes domestically produced goods more competitive, which can help local industries grow,
maintain jobs, and prevent them from being undercut by cheaper imports.
2. To Generate Government Revenue
Historically, tariffs were a primary source of income for governments before the widespread use of income and sales taxes. Today,
in many developed countries, tariffs account for a small percentage of total revenue, but they can still be used to raise funds,
especially in developing nations.
3. As a Tool for National Security
Governments may impose tariffs on goods from industries they deem critical for national security, such as steel, electronics, or
certain agricultural products. The goal is to prevent a reliance on foreign suppliers for essential goods that might be needed in
times of conflict or crisis.
4. TO COUNTER UNFAIR TRADE PRACTICES
Tariffs can be used to penalize other countries for what are considered unfair or illegal trade practices.
Dumping: This occurs when a country exports a product at a price lower than its domestic price or its cost of production. Tariffs,
known as anti-dumping duties, are imposed to offset this price difference and prevent foreign companies from driving local
businesses out of the market.
Subsidies: A country might impose tariffs in response to another country's government providing subsidies to its domestic
industries, which can give them an unfair advantage in international markets.
5. As a Bargaining Tool in International Relations
Tariffs are often used as leverage in trade negotiations or as a form of political pressure. A country may threaten to impose
tariffs to force another country to change its policies on trade, labor, intellectual property, or environmental standards. These
tariffs are often meant to be temporary, with the goal of being lifted once a new agreement is reached.
6. NOT to hurt or cripple those country's economies.

Undeserved narcissists appear ridiculously stupid because of their bloated egos that cannot be surpassed by anything but
themselves.
Imagine taking on a project of breaking down a wall using the best possible method. Non-narcissists would usually take it step by
step, use a strategy and come up with contingency plans, in case they fail the first time around.
With a narcissist however, they will not care about consequences as their main focus is to IMPRESS not to execute. They'll wing it.
Narcissists automatically get into the mode of having to "convince" people for gratification of their low self-worth that they are
stronger, braver and more beautiful than the wall! Remember, I said convince, and not "prove".
Therefore, they will just keep hitting the wall (with WHATEVER resources they have) and keep doing so until it does break; (usually
not in the way intended) thereby destroying themselves and everything else around them.
And, by the time they are done, (which would eventually take a very long time), everybody would have forgotten what the original
project was about, but the narcissist would be elating at their victory - over nothing.
Stupid? Hmm... yes.

"Trump Derangement Syndrome" Is a Real Mental Condition
All you need to know about "Trump Derangement Syndrome," or TDS.
"Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) is a mental condition in which a person has been driven effectively insane due to their dislike
of Donald Trump, to the point at which they will abandon all logic and reason."
Justin Raimondo, the editorial director of Antiwar.com, wrote a piece in the Los Angeles Times in 2016 that broke TDS down into
three distinct phases or stages:
"In the first stage of the disease, victims lose all sense of proportion. The president-elect's every tweet provokes a firestorm,
as if 140 characters were all it took to change the world."
"The mid-level stages of TDS have a profound effect on the victim's vocabulary: Sufferers speak a distinctive language consisting
solely of hyperbole."
"As TDS progresses, the afflicted lose the ability to distinguish fantasy from reality."
The Point here is simple: TDS is, in the eyes of its adherents, the knee-jerk opposition from liberals to anything and everything
Trump does. If Trump announced he was donating every dollar he's ever made, TDS sufferers would suggest he was up to something
nefarious, according to the logic of TDS. There's nothing - not. one. thing. - that Trump could do or say that would be received
positively by TDSers.
The history of Trump Derangement Syndrome actually goes back to the early 2000s - a time when the idea of Trump as president was a
punch line for late-night comics and nothing more.
Wikipedia traces its roots to "Bush Derangement Syndrome" - a term first coined by the late conservative columnist Charles
Krauthammer back in 2003. The condition, as Krauthammer defined it, was "the acute onset of paranoia in otherwise normal people in
reaction to the policies, the presidency - nay - the very existence of George W. Bush."
