We do not have an infrastructure to store electricity. You make it and
use within a millisecond. Even if you have to use it in heaters. Even
unused generators have to be maintained. Fuel has to be stored at site.
Generators cost money whether in use or not, but using them without need
costs money.
It is a peculiar product where spare capacity costs while missing
capacity creates blackouts.
