Better look at that again, Phil, for *rate*.
Its not immediately obvious, but both charts change their horizontal
scale as they approach contemporary years.
For example, on the first chart, there's 1,000 years between tickmarks,
but they omit the "year 2000" tickmark to show 2010, but there's more
years of data since that point ~15 years ago, so there's no excuse for
having the dashed line from ~1900.
On the second chart, note the intervals between years.
At the Minoan Warming: 3582 - 3343 = 239 years.
But now look to the most recent two year pairs:
346-208= 138 years, and
208-95 = 113 years.
If these were spaced the same, the slope would be twice as steep.
So go back and fix these deceptive graphs to let us see the actual rates
of change differences.
