FWIW, there was a high rate of change transient around 535 AD, where a
series of Icelandic volcanic eruptions caused a -2C degree drop in the
Northern Hemisphere and the Late Antique Little Ice Age...but this was a
rapid temperature drop, not a temperature rise:
