Save LBI Unveils Multipoint Plan to Secure Reliable and Affordable Electricity

Save LBI, a grassroots nonprofit with over 10,000 supporters, is urging New Jersey lawmakers to address the state's escalating
energy crisis by enacting practical policies and rethinking offshore wind development. With electricity rates already 33% above the
national average and a recent 20% spike, NJ residents face soaring costs driven by reliance on imported power and growing data
center demands.

Their multipoint plan focuses on securing reliable, affordable energy:

- Reduce PJM import costs by restoring in-state baseload and peaking capacity.

- Protect ratepayers from AI data center expenses, ensuring they cover full demand costs.

- Reconsider offshore wind, a subsidized failure costing up to $300/MWh-far higher than nuclear ($101/MWh for SMRs) or natural gas
($78/MWh)-while harming marine life, disrupting radar, and threatening tourism.

- Expand nuclear power with Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) at sites like Salem and Oyster Creek, adding thousands of megawatts by
2032 for clean, reliable energy.

- Deploy natural gas for quick, dependable power generation.

- Lead globally on climate strategies by funding studies on effective greenhouse gas reductions without artificial renewable
quotas.

Offshore wind's downsides are stark: it could hike bills by 89% by 2045, with the Atlantic Shores project alone adding 11-15% to
rates. Taxpayers have already sunk nearly $1 billion into unused facilities, and turbine removal costs may fall on the public. Save
LBI calls for rescinding supportive laws, like the Offshore Wind Economic Development Act, until federal rules ensure
accountability.

Bob Stern, Save LBI president and energy policy expert, stresses that energy decisions must balance reliability, cost, and
environmental impact, not hinge on unachievable climate goals NJ can't control alone.
