That the media blamed climate change as if that was what started the
fires.

Yes, it does, if they make it seem as if climate change was the reason
the fires started in the 1st place.
No contradiction... just hypocrisy.
The climate "changes" in California way more often than climate is
"supposed" to change. Climate in a particular place is supposedly
"measured" in terms of decades... three to be exact, and the climate
changes more often than that, especially in California.
Droughts alternating with pluvial periods occur in California on a sub-
30-year cycle.
So... climate change, as defined by you loons on the left, meaning man
is responsible, has no effect.
California has had alternating climate "changes" for 100s of thousands,
if not millions, if not BILLIONS of years.
California's climate has experienced alternating climate changes-
including droughts and pluvial (wet) periods-for thousands of years,
dating back to prehistory. This isn't a recent phenomenon; it's a
fundamental characteristic of the region's climate.
The History of Climate Variability
1. Prehistoric Evidence (Paleoclimatology)
Scientists studying paleoclimatology (ancient climates) have used
various natural records to reconstruct California's past:
Tree Rings (Dendrochronology): Tree ring data from centuries-old trees
provide an annual record of wet and dry years. This data shows that
California has repeatedly endured mega-droughts lasting for decades or
even over a century...
... WHICH WERE FAR MORE SEVERE THAN ANY DROUGHT RECORDED IN MODERN
HISTORY.
These mega-droughts were naturally followed by extended pluvial
periods.
Lake Sediment Cores: Sediment layers in deep lakes record past wetness
through pollen, mineral composition, and other markers. These cores
confirm a long history of alternating extreme conditions over the past
10,000 to 20,000 years, linked to large-scale Pacific Ocean and
atmospheric patterns.
2. The Modern Era (The Last Few Centuries)
Over the past few hundred years, including the period of modern
settlement, the pattern has continued:
Historical Documentation: Early Spanish and American records document
significant, multi-year droughts and corresponding massive floods
(pluvial periods). The Great Flood of 1862, for example, which
submerged much of the Central Valley and forced the state capital to
move, is a classic example of an extreme pluvial event.
Instrumental Record: The instrumental record (since the late 19th
century) clearly shows the recurrent pattern of severe droughts (like
the 1930s, 1970s, and 2012-2016) followed by extremely wet years.
In summary, the alternating pattern of drought and wetness in
California is an ancient, natural part of the state's climate system.
What is changing now is how human-caused climate change is potentially
intensifying both the severity of the droughts and the magnitude of the
floods.
So... you still wanna blame man for California's droughts?
Stay stupid!
