Subject: Trump says he'll raise U.S. tariffs on Canada by 10% after Reagan ad

President Donald Trump said heâs increasing U.S. tariffs on Canada by
10% in response to an anti-tariff advertisement by the province of
Ontario that is roiling one of the worldâs biggest bilateral trade
relationships.
Trumpâs Truth Social post follows days of public clashes over the ad,
which invoked former President Ronald Reaganâs stance as a free trader
and triggered the current U.S. presidentâs ire.
âBecause of their serious misrepresentation of the facts, and hostile
act, I am increasing the Tariff on Canada by 10% over and above what
they are paying now,â Trump said Saturday.
With Canada already under a U.S. base tariff rate of 35%, the impact of
Trumpâs new measure wasnât immediately clear. The 35% rate doesnât apply
to most Canadian goods because of an exemption for products and
shipments made within the rules of the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement. Steel
and aluminum products donât have that waiver â and Canadian-made cars
and trucks are only partially eligible for exemption from Trumpâs 25%
tariffs on most foreign autos.

Has the man has gone completely mad? Why Canada? I can't think of a
better neighbor. To pick a fight over something so insignificant as a
television commercial is beyond comprehension.
