In the 60's, we lived in rural Illinois. Our home had *great* well
water, Our house was at the edge of a small woods in what is now
called Homer Glen.
Every fall immense hordes of migrating grackles would gather in
our trees, and the noise of their cawing was tremendous.
Watched and learned from WTTW ("Window to the World").
I had a CB radio and listened to the mothertruckers on I-80.
Bought PAIA kits and built synthesizer modules in my room.
Had many to trips to Chicago and went to Wrigley Field, the
Field Museum, the Shedd Aquarium, the great Museum of Science and
Industry, Lincoln Park Zoo, the Adler Planetarium, the beaches on
Lake Michigan.... Went all over Chicago and it was great.
Went back to the old home area when my mother died.
Now my old home is gone, and there are a number of mini-mansions
on the hills in the woods near the creek where we would make
camps, bridges, and have so much fun. But otherwise it's much
the same environment.

Ye've also got to remember that ... respectable people do the most astonishin'
things to preserve their respectability. Thank God I'm not respectable.
