FBI investigators on Friday found additional classified material while cond=
ucting a search of President Joe Biden=E2=80=99s Wilmington, Delaware, home.

Bob Bauer, the president=E2=80=99s personal attorney, said in a statement t=
hat during the search, which took place over nearly 13 hours Friday, =E2=80=
=9CDOJ took possession of materials it deemed within the scope of its inqui=
ry, including six items consisting of documents with classification marking=
s and surrounding materials, some of which were from the President=E2=80=99=
s service in the Senate and some of which were from his tenure as Vice Pres=
ident. DOJ also took for further review personally handwritten notes from t=
he vice-presidential years.=E2=80=9D

Those six items are in addition to materials previously found at Biden=E2=
=80=99s Wilmington residence and in his private office.

The federal search of BIden=E2=80=99s home, while voluntary, marks an escal=
ation of the probe into the president=E2=80=99s handling of classified docu=
ments and will inevitably draw comparisons to his predecessor, former Presi=
dent Donald Trump =E2=80=93 even if the FBI=E2=80=99s search of Trump=E2=80=
=99s residence was conducted under different circumstances.

The FBI search was done with the consent of the president=E2=80=99s attorne=
ys, people briefed on the matter said. The FBI also previously picked up do=
cuments found at the residence, which the Biden team disclosed last week.

The search did not require a search warrant or subpoena, according to a per=
son familiar with the matter.

Bauer said that representatives of Biden=E2=80=99s personal legal team and =

White House Counsel=E2=80=99s Office were present during the =E2=80=9Cthoro=
