"Thin Ice," the third episode of Doctor Who Series 10, written by Sarah 
Dollard, explores the themes of morality, history, and class disparity through
the backdrop of 1814's Frost Fair on the Thames. The Doctor and Bill 
investigate mysterious disappearances linked to a massive sea creature 
enslaved beneath the ice. The episode deftly balances a period-piece aesthetic
with sharp social commentary, particularly in its exploration of racism 
and the exploitation of natural resources.

The chemistry between Peter Capaldi's Doctor and Pearl Mackie's Bill continues
to shine. Their discussions on moral responsibility, such as Bill's 
questioning of the Doctor's past choices, feel authentic 
and thought-provoking. Capaldi is compelling as the Doctor, portraying his 
timeless wisdom and occasional moral detachment with depth, while Mackie 
brings a grounded, modern perspective to the story.

Visually, the Frost Fair setting is richly realised, with costumes 
and effects that immerse the audience in the era. The moral dilemma of freeing
the creature versus its potential danger creates a nuanced narrative. However,
the antagonist, Lord Sutcliffe, feels underdeveloped, representing 
a simplistic archetype of greed and cruelty.

Dollard's script highlights the emotional weight of the Doctor's decisions 
while delivering witty dialogue and poignant moments, such as the Doctor 
standing up to racism and his moving speech about humanity's potential. 
The conclusion, with the creature freed and the Fair preserved in history, 
offers a satisfying resolution.

Rating: 85/100
A strong episode that combines historical intrigue, ethical questions, and 
character development, though it falters slightly in its antagonist portrayal.
