"Knock Knock," the fourth episode of *Doctor Who* Series 10, is a chilling
exploration of horror tropes within a familiar domestic setting. Written by
Mike Bartlett, the story follows Bill and her friends moving into an eerily
cheap, creaky old house, which harbors dark secrets involving alien wood
lice-like creatures, called Dryads,
and an enigmatic Landlord played by David Suchet.

The episode excels in atmosphere. The house's groaning floorboards, flickering
lights, and claustrophobic spaces create a genuinely unnerving environment.
Suchet's performance as the Landlord is a masterclass in understated menace,
balancing charm with unsettling mystery. Pearl Mackie's Bill once again
anchors the episode with her relatable reactions and sharp wit, while Peter
Capaldi's Doctor shifts between quirky and fiercely protective,
offering humour and gravitas.

While the buildup is strong, the resolution falters. The reveal that
the Landlord has been preserving his mother, Eliza, through the Dryads
lacks emotional resonance, despite an earnest attempt at pathos.
The narrative rushes to tie up loose ends, leaving little room
for the poignant familial themes to fully develop.

Ultimately, "Knock Knock" is a solid entry with moments of genuine tension
and compelling performances but stumbles in delivering
a fully satisfying conclusion.

**Rating: 78/100**
A creepy, atmospheric episode elevated by Suchet's performance,
though its resolution lacks depth.
