It's not only true but has been proven to be true
countless times.
They "Correct" temperatures. In other words, the
instrument reads [A] and they report [B]. This is
standard practice. It's not occasional it's what
they do on a regular basis.
They "Estimate" temperatures all the time.
They "Extrapolate" temperatures. How this is
different from "Making them up" or "Estimating"
nobody knows, but they do it.
